There is so much to do right now for players in Final Fantasy XIV like checking out all of the patch 4.5 notes as well as unlocking the new Blue Mage limited job class. Of course, you need the game to actually do these things. That’s why some players are wondering about a Final Fantasy XIV free to play version. Can you play it for free?
In this FFXIV guide, we are going to go over whether or not you can play Final Fantasy XIV free. After all, most players know that a subscription is related to the game in some way. All in all, it can be really confusing for newcomers to the MMORPG. Without further ado, let’s break down everything you need to know.
Final Fantasy XIV Free to Play Version
Currently, at the time of publishing, Final Fantasy XIV normally requires a subscription to play. However, there is technically a free version that you can pick up and play right now on both PC and PS4. The major caveat is that you can’t use an account you already own so it must be brand new. That shouldn’t be a problem for newcomers, though.
All you need to do is download the free PC version if you’re on a computer or the free trial game if you’re on PS4. Both work the same way. You can play the game and part of its main story as long as you want with no time limit. However, there is a level limit currently of level 35. That is half of the current level cap of 70.
You also have other restrictions like selling on the market board and so on. Regardless, you can still check out most classes up to level 35 on one character, which is pretty awesome. We fully expect (but there is no guarantee) this level restriction to rise to 50 or so when the third expansion, Shadowbringers, launches this summer.

Yes the game is great play it!
OP should probably clarify: You do not need to buy each expansion individually, the latest expansion gives you all previous expansions.
This means that if you buy Stormblood now, you will get Heavensward. If you wait and buy Shadowbringers when it comes out, you will get Stormblood and Heavensward with it.
If nothing else, Final Fantasy XIV is a fantastic Final Fantasy game and this is a great way to get started with it. It has everything you need to play the original main storyline.
If you like the Starter Edition then be sure to get Shadowbringers when it comes out! You can play as the Viera! This means that if you buy Stormblood now, you will get Heavensward. If you wait and buy Shadowbringers when it comes out, you will get Stormblood and Heavensward with it.

Kids love Vieras!
Square Enix has dropped the time restriction from the Final Fantasy XIV free trial, meaning that you can now enjoy the first 35 levels of the MMORPG entirely at your leisure.
If you like your gaming big, you’ll love the best MMOs on PC.
The news comes via an announcement on Lodestone, the game’s blog: “the 14-day limitation on the free trial has been removed and the adventure can continue for as long as you want!”
You can now access all content up to level 35, including Chocobo Racing at the Gold Saucer. In a classy move, even expired accounts are restored, so if your trial was curtailed by the time limit before, you’ll now be able to continue to the level cap.
The removal of the time limit coincides with the latest patch, version 3.56, which concludes the main scenario of Heavensward, the game’s current expansion. The patch adds new quests and tweaks a couple of existing battles, but all of that will be way beyond trial players. For veterans, here are the patch notes.
As Heavensward concludes, the world of Eorzea is gearing up for Stormblood, Final Fantasy XIV’s latest major expansion. That’s due in June, and you can watch the trailer above.
You can sign up for the free trial here, or simply click ‘Download Demo’ on the game’s Steam page. Define home abb irc5.
